Stewarding Your Influence
Living Out Faith Through Intentional Impact
“Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt…”
—Colossians 4:6
In a world where influence can be as subtle as a conversation over coffee or as broad as a social media platform, the call to stewardship goes far beyond finances. As we reflect on our church’s theme of stewardship, let's explore what it means to steward our influence...our relationships, our words, and our everyday opportunities
In reflecting on stewardship, my pastor (who just so happens to be my husband) recently shared a powerful thought: that stewardship also has much to do with our thoughts and words. I would add that stewarding our influence also means being mindful stewards of our thoughts and words. The way we think and the way we speak can shape the atmosphere around us and reflect the values we hold dear. When we choose our words with care and let our thoughts be guided by faith, we are truly stewarding our influence in a way that honors God and uplifts those around us.
Three Graceful Practices for Stewarding Your Influence
• Speak Life and Encouragement: Choose words that build up rather than tear down. Whether you are talking to a friend, mentoring someone, or posting online, your words have the power to inspire and uplift.
• Be Intentional with Your Time: Influence is not just about big moments; it is also about the small, everyday choices. Make time for relationships and invest in the people God has placed in your life.
• Reflect Your Values Consistently: Stewardship of influence means living out your faith in a way that is authentic and aligned with your core beliefs. Let your actions mirror the values you hold dear, so that your influence is a genuine reflection of your faith.
